The West Central Region, was formed along with 9 other Regions in 1996. The purpose and objective of them being to represent general matters of both Club and Centre interest to the Club Council, to foster the interests of those members living in the area and to provide a forum in which to discuss and solve local issues/problems at regional level.
The affairs and activities are controlled by a Regional council which comprises of the following:
Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer. These are annually elected positions, to be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Region, and form the elected officers.
There are two delegates from each Centre within the Region, these are appointed by Centre Committees.
Finally, there may be up to three co-opted Members, these being Current Menbers who are not registered with any Centre, and who are deemed suitable by the Club Executive Committee.
Normally the Chairman and Vice-Chairman may serve a maximum of three consecutive years, however their nomination for a further year may be accepted with the agreement of the Regional Council, and if elected, the member may complete a fouth year in that office. A Chairman may stand for election again after being out of office for one year. However, a Vice-Chairman may stand for the office of Chairman without any such gap in office.
No Club member currently holding elected office or committee membership within a Centre is eligible to be a candidate for elected Regional office.
Any member of the Caravan Club living within the boundaries of the Region, or registered with a Centre in that Region is eligible to become an elected member of the Regional committee.
The Chairman and Vice-Chairman of The Caravan Club shall be ex-officio members of the Regional Council. Members of the Executive Committee and Nominated Members of Club Council living in the area, as well as The Director General or his representative, may attend meetings, having the right to speak but not to vote.
If a vacancy should occur in the elected members of the Regional Council during the year, the Regional Council may co-opt a member to fill that vacancy.
The Region receives an annual grant from The Caravan Club funds to defray agreed administrative costs. The amount of the grant is determined by the Executive Committee upon receiving advice from the Grants Committee. The grant is subject to periodic reveiw.
Prior to The Annual General Meeting, the accounts are audited by a properly qualified Auditor.
